The U12’s made the trek to Corinthians RFC on Saturday morning last with plenty of enthusiasm and spirit as they took on their counterparts from across the region in the Connacht U12 Blitz.
The Colts were pitted in a tough group with 5 games to be played. First up was against one of the powerhouses of Galway rugby, Galwegians RFC. After a short break the Colts took on near neighbours Castlebar. This was a fine all round performance from the Colts with a number of players getting their name on the score sheet. This win boosted the confidenece of the Colts squad as next up for them was a battle with Tuam and a battle it was.The game was full of excellent tackling and ferocious rucking on both side during 14 minutes of quality rugby. The game eventually swung in favour of the Galway lads but not before all the Colts players had given it their all.
The Colts got a much needed break before two final games against the lads of Barna RFC which was another close affair before they played the hosts Corinthians RFC in their last game of the day. Again both teams gave it their all with some excellent passing and tackling on show. Best for the Colts on the day was Takechi Killkenny and John Sullivan.
