It was perfect conditions for rugby on Saturday morning last as the Colts U12 girls team headed for Ballina to play in the Aviva Connacht Blitz . There were a few of the regular faces missing but this didn’t dampen the spirits. The girls had a number of games on the day with matches against Ballina, Sligo and Creggs.
The Claremorris girls played some positive running rugby led by Ruby Phillips and Rose Cawley who were busy around the pitch in defence and attack scoring some great individual tries. Sarah Gleeson also got on the score sheet and was making some hard yards. Sienna Morley also wasn’t to be left out on the try front and made some big tackles to help keep the opposition under pressure, Her excellent play allowed winger Elizabeth Byrne do her thing as she found plenty of space to score tries of her own. All in all it was a great day of competitive action for both players and supporters.
