Although beaten by their Creggs counterparts the Colts U13’s had a very useful workout in Roscommon village last Saturday morning.
The opening minutes were full of action as both teams got off the mark to leave the scores tied at 5-5 after 10 minutes. After scoring their first try the Colts started to dominate the possesion stakes. After good work from a Colts scrum on the Creggs 22′ they put the ball through their backs which saw Charlie Phillips touch down in the corner.
The Colts lead was short lived as Creggs responded immediately which meant the scored were tied once again as the teams changed ends.
The second half was just as entertaining with three tries shared among both teams. The Colts struck first when Dylan Morris turned over the ball in the Creggs 22′ he then ran the length of the pitch to touch down under the posts. The conversion was added by Kyle Leonard and the Colts were 17-10 to the good. Two quick fire Creggs try’s had them back in front for a lead they would not relinquish as Creggs ran out 24-17 winners.
