The Colts mini rugby boys teams travel north on Saturday morning (7th December) to renew rivalries in the now traditional pre-Christmas mini rugby blitz with Sligo RFC. The mini rugby blitz takes place in the grounds of Sligo IT which is located off Ash Lane, Ballinode. We need all players to arrive at the grounds and be ready to play at 9:45am latest.
There will be a bus leaving the Local Car Park in Claremorris at 8:15am sharp to arrive at Sligo IT for 9:45am latest. To insure everyone needing transportation on Saturday is accommodated, we are asking all parents to text Kevin on 087 746 1829 to reserve a seat for their son(s) on the bus. Parents who have reserved a seat(s) will get priority on Saturday morning and we cannot guarantee a seat on the bus for your son unless you have reserved the same in advance.
We expect to arrive at Sligo IT for 9:45am latest and will be assembling in front of the main sports hall. Our hosts will be directing the various teams to their playing pitches at 9:45am so please arrive before that time.
The U7’s, U8’s, U9’s & U10’s will be playing on an astroturf pitch on Saturday and all players will be required to wear trainers instead of boots on this surface. It is also advised that they wear tracksuit bottoms and long sleeve t-shirts to avoid the possibility of incurring friction burns if they happen to slide along the pitch. As always it is mandatory that all players wear a gum shield when playing mini rugby.
NO GUM SHIELD NO PLAY !!
The weather forecast for Saturday morning is cloudy with a risk of some showers. Please insure your son wears warm clothing and more importantly, he brings an extra change of clothes should there be rain during the blitz.
We expect the mini rugby games to finish by 12:00pm and Sligo Rugby Club have very kindly offered to provide refreshments for the ‘Colts’ players. It’s planned to start the return journey to Claremorris by 12:30pm and to arrive at the Local Car Park by 1:30pm.
Please call Kevin on 087 746 1829 or Paul on 087 661 0968 if you have any questions or need further detail on the trip to Sligo on Saturday morning.
