Our boys mini rugby players make the trip to the grounds of IT Sligo to take on Sligo RFC in a very enjoyable day of rugby on Saturday morning last.
The U8 team had a busy day with a number of games against their Sligo counterparts. There were some fine performances among the Claremorris ranks with Andre Luddan performing best of all on the day. The U9 team had an equally busy schedule with three games in total to be played. Our lads put on an exhibition of rugby with some eye catching play. Their passing and try scoring was first class throughout each game. Without doubt Paul Gilmore was the star of the show with some excellent tries in what was a fine squad performances from all the players on the show.
Our U10 team had big numbers and also had some big performers. Our lads tackling and passing were of the highest order with Joesph Gilmore the shining light for the Claremorris U10 team. The U11’s did very well in the three games they played. Their rucking in all games was outstanding with Kyle Leonard the choice of U11 player of the day.
The U12 team had a tough task as they had to play their games without the aid of any subs. This didn’t seem to make a difference as our lads gave it their all from first whistle to last. The Sligo lads were clearly bigger and stronger but the Claremorris defence held strong to repel the wave of Sligo attacks with Takechi Kilkenny the best of all on the day. It is back to training next Saturday morning December 15th on the Convent school pitch for our final training session before the Christmas break. We will have fun games next Saturday morning so it’s not to be missed.
