The Colts travelled across the Shannon on Sunday to the promotion chasing Buccaneers RFC in the Connacht J2 league.
The hosts were brighter from the first whistle as the Colts struggled to contain the Bucc’s attack who got their opening score within the first five minutes. Things did not improve for the remainder of the half as Buccs cut through the Colts defence to establish a 33-0 lead at half time.
Colts started the second half in much the same as the first as Buccs touched down in the corner to put the result beyond doubt. The Colts finally started to play some decent rugby and their forwards were working hard to claim much needed possession with Adam McLoughlin and John Costello doing particularity well.
Claremorris got the score their endeavor deserved, after good work by the forwards, Ian O’Brien cut through the tackles before offloading to David Cosgrove who side stepped his way over the line to get the Colts off the mark. The Colts continued to work hard for the remainder of the game but were well beaten on a 45-5 scoreline
